The Law of Attraction, The Secret, and The Cow

Since I've been studying and practicing the law of attraction (conscious creation), I've observed that the biggest stumbling block for many people is step two in the process of conscious creation.

What do you want?

On the surface, it seems like an easy question. But I know that I'm as guilty as anyone about skipping quickly from "What do I want?" to action (Do-Be-Do-Be). I fly right past steps two and three (Decide-Envision-Commit, and Expect) in the process.

In particular, I avoid the envisioning part. It's just too hard (or so I think). I know many other people do exactly the same thing. Why spend time envisioning what I want? I feel pretty certain I know what it is, so what's the point of seeing it in my mind's eye? In fact, in the new movie The Secret, they talk about why you should really spend time envisioning what you want.

The point is clarity. And that's what brings me to the cow.

Several weeks ago I was at a financial seminar. For some reason, they'd interjected an afternoon session with a motivational speaker. "Ha!" I thought. "I know this stuff. I should be able to snooze right past this material."

Then, he showed us a picture.

I heard several people shout out, "It's a cow!" All I saw was an image with blobs of white and black - more like an inkblot test than a picture of anything in particular.

The presenter listened to a number of suggestions, then finally said, "Yes, it's a cow." In that instant, and I mean "instant" I saw the cow. The picture was of a cow - no mistaking it now.

In fact, all I could see was the cow. I couldn't NOT see the cow, no matter how hard I tried to see something else. It was a picture of a cow.

Then, I saw something else. I realized how I'd been skipping past the second step in the conscious creation process. I'd been struggling to manifest several things upon which I'd been focused, and couldn't figure out why. I instantly knew that the images I saw in my head were blobs of black and white with the "notion" that somewhere in there is a "cow". Sure, The Secret Movie didn't mention anything about a cow (from what I remember.

In other words, I'd wanted to find "a good investment deal," but didn't spend the time envisioning how that would feel or what it would look like. What I kept getting was a splattering of "deals", none of which were for me.

By moving from the notion of something to a clear picture of that thing, the opportunities present themselves faster than you can say, "blink." That's what happened to me, and it is what will happen to you when you take the time to envision what you want.

Now I have a catch phrase whenever I feel uncertain, overwhelmed, or unsure: "See the cow." I think the cow knows a thing or two about the law of attraction or The Secret.
